Sometimes it just clicks: Sometimes the author's and reader's experiences match up. A Better Day has matched mine in several cases. Sometimes an odd bit of wisdom or a maxim makes it to the page. A Better Day has pulled those on occasion. Puns? Cute sayings? Succinct irony? A Better Day has pulled it off here and there.
There isn't that much for me to say or work with here (on the other hand, it makes a less abrupt step from writing nothing about webcomics for a month). Also no images this time; this comic doesn't reduce well. But simplicity is good in this case, complexity would only ruin this comic. It's not one of the more artistically impressive comics. Each one is a single black&white panel--mostly white space with a small drawing in the center. This actually works very well. The clever phrases have context, but not enough to distract from them. Being a random single panel, there's not much to really point out. Simplicity makes it work as well as it does. If you aren't up to trolling through the 400-strong archives on just my recommendation:
A little question to puzzle on And that's what you have to expect. That and a good number of office and coffee based comics, that I don't have the background to click with as much. |
