Hosting Follow-up: Drunk Duck

Drunk Duck is a smaller service, but still commonly used. Very often an account is used as a mirror--probably the best use considering the fewer features Drunk Duck has.

Nearly all Drunk Duck sites look identical: logo and title at the top, comic page with archive buttons in the middle, comment text at the bottom. A few place the elements in slightly different places, but essentially it's still the same page design. Furthermore, that is the *only* page--no character bios, no archive summaries, not even a news page. Add in the smaller annoyances, like how it defaults the page title to whatever you called the current comic page.

The archive system isn't that great either. Each page is marked with a cryptic number, not a simple timestamp to let you jump to a certain day's comic or even a linear id number. On top of it, I've only seen a single Drunk Duck site to have a calendar for archive navigation.

Drunk Duck has downtime troubles no less frequently than Comic Genesis--perhaps more frequent considering the improvement Comic Genesis has experienced in that area.

I can't be completely negative about Drunk Duck. It does provide for viewers to comment on the comics, something that other authors using other services usually have to add in themselves. Additionally it provides a good listing of hosted comics and rates them, making it easier to pick out the best. The short www.drunkduck/abcxyz/ isn't a minor plus either.
