I don't know, for some reason transformation-based stories seem to come easier to me. Maybe it's because once you hit the TF and clean up you're done and have a manageably small piece of writing. Maybe something clicks and lets me connect the words easier.

In 2005, there was a short-lived contest called RUET (Rarely Used Enviroment Transformation). In the third round it died out (I couldn't even come up with a good idea for that one), but I did write entries for the first two (hitting third out of seven in the first round!).

I didn't do very well with my entry for the second round. Unfortunatly, a slightly better idea came to be after the deadline. It uses the same setting as my arctic piece, and I think it is much better than my entry.
